Introduction
Knowledge becomes a crucial asset of an organization in recent decade of the 21st century. The applicability of knowledge management can help organization tied to its organizational objectives and lead the achievement of specific outcomes. So effective knowledge management is crucial to enhance organization’s performance, competitive advantage and level of innovation.
This KM Forum for NGOs 2011 will cover different perspectives of knowledge management. Speakers from Education and NGO sectors will share with participants their thoughts and insight of knowledge management implementation. Besides, KM experts from the Knowledge Management Research Centre (KMRC) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University will also talk about the recent KM application and KM development in NGO sector.

Application of Knowledge Management in Primary School
Dr Wu Siu Wai 胡少偉博士
Hong Kong Primary Education Research Association
Dr Wu Siu Wai has started his career as a teacher educator since September 1995. He works in the department of International Education and Lifelong Learning in HKIED. He had completed Bachelor Degree programme in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Master of Education programme of the University of Hong Kong and Ph.D programme in Beijing Normal University. He now serves as the Secretary of the Hong Kong Primary Education Research Association, and is the project coordinator of “Knowledge Management and Development of Primary School” which is funded by Quality Education Fund.

Knowledge Management in Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association
Mr Daniel Cheung 張志坤先生

Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association
Mr Daniel Cheung obtained his BA degree (Social Work) from the City University of Hong Kong and Master Social Work degree (Social Service and Social Administration) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He also obtained the qualification of Certified Knowledge Professional (CKP) from PolyU in 2006. In the past twenty years, Mr Cheung has been closely involved in developing youth and community service. And now, he is working in HKYWCA as a social work administrator and playing a key role in developing knowledge sharing and management platform in the agency.

Leveraging Web 2.0 and Social Media Tools for Non-Profit Organizations

Prof Eric Tsui is also an Editorial Board member of the Knowledge-Based Systems, Knowledge Management Research and Practice, and the Information and Knowledge Management Journals. His research interests are on Knowledge Management Technologies, Enterprise Portals, and E-Learning. He is also the Program Leader of Asia Pacific’s very unique Master of Science in Knowledge Management degree, a program that is delivered via blended E-Learning and face-to-face environments. He has published in journals like Knowledge-Based Systems, Expert Systems with Applications, Information Processing and Management.

KM Development in NGO
Ms Nicole Sy 施少婷女士

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Ms Nicole Sy graduated from the University of Guelph, Canada and obtained a Master of Science in Information Systems at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). She is working as Knowledge Management(KM) Specialist in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and is responsible for conducting KM projects for internal business units and external corporate clients where she acquired extensive KM training and consultancy experience with leading companies, including CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd, Dragon Air Ltd, Hong Kong Post and the HKSAR. She is currently the program director and trainer for the Certified Knowledge Professionals course at the PolyU.
