Objective

Effective Human Resources Management is one of the critical success factors in corporate management and governance of NGOs. Its function has been extended to a horizon that people management is a “must” for every staff member holding a supervisory/managerial position. HKCSS Institute has organized the Certificate in HRM to facilitate supervisory and managerial staff to:

  • strengthen the HR knowledge required in effective people management in the organization
  • enhance the skills required in managing people management related issues
  • understand the complimentary role of supervisors in achieving efficient and effective people management with the HR department

Characteristics

  • Responding to common HR issues of NGOs in the welfare sector
  • Focusing on HR role to be performed by supervisors
  • HR specialists are invited to be trainers

Target Participants

  • The full programme is designed for NGO staff at managerial or supervisory levels
  • Individual sessions are suitable for Centre Supervisors, Service Managers or management staff who are interested in the topic

  • “Certificate in Human Resource Management for NGOs” will be issued by the HKCSS Institute to participants who enrolled for the full certificate course, including sessions 1 to 5, and with attendance at least 24 hours out of 30 hours.
  • Attendance Certificates will be issued to participants upon completion of each individual whole session.

Mr Hillman Chung 鍾衍文先生 (Sessions 1a & 1b)
Independent Human Resources Consultant

Mr Chung has more than 23 working experience in Human Resources and Consulting field.  He has assumed human resources leadership in different business natures such as hotel, food and beverage operations, estate management, transportation services and resort establishment. Hillman holds a Master degree in Human Resources Management from University of Surrey.  He has been a licensed Trainer of a series of programs under an American Consulting Firm and accredited practitioner of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) ® Step I & II.

Dr Au Wing Tung 區永東教授 (Session 1c)
Associate Professor, Department of Psychology,
The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Chair (2004-2006), Division of Industrial-Organizational Psychology, The Hong Kong Psychological Society

He obtained his PhD in Psychology at University of Illinois. Since then, he has been teaching both undergraduate and master level courses in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Social Psychology for the past 10 years. His research interests include the application of psychology to workplace behaviors, cooperation and competition. He has also been providing consultancy services to both public and private organizations in the areas of recruitment selection assessment, equal opportunities, staff motivation and customer satisfaction.

Dr Florence Ho, EdD 何巧清博士 (Session 1c)
Assistant Programme Director, Senior Lecturer
School of Professional Education & Executive Development (SPEED)
Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Dr Ho has extensive experience as a human resource management practitioner. Prior to joining SPEED, she worked in both public and private sectors. Florence also worked with the Social Welfare Department as a social worker, and in addition she has also served in various NGOs as a volunteer.

In his thirty-seven-year career as an HR professional, Mr Lai has gained extensive experience and thorough understanding on human resources management strategy, performance, reward management and succession planning. Prior to his current role, he was the Group Human Resources Manager of CLP Holdings, Ltd., the parent company of the China Light & Power Group, managing the Group’s remuneration and benefits policies, as well as its HR information system.

Mr Chak is committed to helping organizations develop people potential, talents engagement and customer value. With more than 25 years of people and organization development experience, Stanley has consulted to a wide range of local and multinational organizations such as Nike, Levi Strauss, Citibank, CLP Power, HSBC, Education Bureau and schools, SWD, The Hong Kong Council of Social Service and NGOs. To help develop the professional standard of presenters, trainers and HR managers, Stanley was commissioned by the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resources Management to develop a Body of Knowledge (Learning & Development) for her membership in 2009. Over 2,500 managers and professionals have attended Stanley’s High Impact Presentation and Train-the-Trainer workshops in Asia Pacific since 1996.
