Objective

The aim of this course is to provide a full set of mediation skills, such as negotiation, reframing, questioning and communication skills, for participants to conduct and apply mediation in their daily work life to resolve dispute and restore relationships with feasible solutions. Mediation process, theory, techniques and essential concepts of drafting a settlement agreement will be taught in the programme.

Certificates

Certificates will be conferred by Hong Kong Mediation Centre and HKCSS Institute to participants who have fulfilled the following requirements:
  • Have attained 40 hours of training (absence of a maximum of 8 hours or two half day sessions with reasons is acceptable) AND
  • Have attained at least 60% or 12 marks (total 20 marks) from assessments in Lessons 4 & 5

Accredited Mediator

Person who would like to be qualified as Accredited Mediator must have completed at least 40 hours mediation training course organized by the Hong Kong Mediation Centre (HKMC) or co-organized by the HKMC with other approved organizations, or completed a mediation training course organized by other organizations, and approved by the HKMC Accreditation and Assessment Committee. Ms Annita Mau
Accredited Mediator
Hong Kong Mediation Centre

Ms Mau has held senior positions in the field of public affairs and corporate communication for over 20 years, serving major non-government organizations and public corporations, including the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) and the Hospital Authority (HA) where she was the Chief Public Affairs Manager when she retired in Feb 2006. Ms Mau’s strengths are in government relations, community relations and media relations. She assisted the corporations she served to deal effectively with major crises and issues such as the Light Rail sit-in protest in 1991; Hong Kong’s medical blunders in 1997; doctors’ demonstration over their employment terms in 2000; and SARS in 2003. Ms Mau also possesses a solid background in television production, writing /editing, and academia while she worked for the Radio Television Hong Kong, Asia Television, Reader’s Digest and the City University of Hong Kong in the early part of her career. Ms Mau holds a Bachelor Degree in English (Minor in Chinese), a Master Degree in Social Sciences (Criminology) and a Master Degree in Arts (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language). She became an Accredited Mediator in 2005. Ms MAU started to serve in the council of HKMC in 2010, and is now the Chairperson of Education and Professional Training Committee.
