Introduction

More and more companies come to realize that their employees’ talents and skills drive their organization success. Retention programmes thus play vital role to retain their valuable talents. An effective talent management system, including retention programmes, must be incorporated into organization’s strategy and implemented in daily processes throughout the organization as a whole. It’s not only HR department’s duty but also line managers’ duty.

Talent management includes identification, training and development, performance management, retention, promotion and transition. It needs time for organizations to train and nurture talents. The earlier the organization executes the exercise, the higher your chances of continued success. This HR Forum for NGOs 2010 will provide vivid examples on talent management from well know organization and companies in public sector, public utilities and retail services.

Managing Director, Tricor Human Capital

In his thirty-seven-year career as an HR professional, Mr Lai has gained extensive experience and thorough understanding on human resources management strategy, performance, reward management and succession planning. Prior to his current role, he was the Group Human Resources Manager of CLP Holdings, Ltd., the parent company of the China Light & Power Group, managing the Group’s remuneration and benefits policies, as well as its HR information system.

Mr Francis Wong 黃偉華先生
Cluster General Manager, Human Resources, Hospital Authority

Mr Wong is now taking care of the HR functions for 7 hospitals which employ around 9,000 staff. Prior to with Hospital Authority, he has been associated with local and multinational conglomerates in transport, retail, high-tech and electronics sectors. In 1995, he built and operated at that time the biggest in-door children amusement centre in South China in Guangzhou. He has also taught in City Polytechnics of Hong Kong and provided management consultancy to leading local corporations.

Educated in United States, Ms Leung has extensive corporate and field experience in Asia Pacific, the Americas, Middle East, and Europe as well as most recently in Greater China and North Asia. Prior to joining Dairy Farm North Asia, Julita was the HR Director for North Asia & Business Partnering of Sun Microsystems, overseeing wider HR functions such as talent management, leadership development, change management and organization development in Greater China, Korea and Japan.

Mr Francis Mok is a seasoned HR professional, with experiences covering strategic human resource management, performance management, employee engagement as well as talent selection and development. Mr Mok is currently the Group HR Director of Jebsen & Co. Ltd., and is responsible for managing the Group's human resources management, human capital and leadership development, talent management and Corporate Social Responsibility in Hong Kong and the mainland China. Prior to his career in professional human resources management, Mr Mok had extensive experience in managing frontline and engineering operation.

Mr Chan Kai Ming 陳啟明先生
Secretary General, Hong Kong Red Cross

Mr Chan is an experienced Registered Social Worker with over 30 years of service in both frontline and management levels. He has heavily involved in the reform of performance management system, pay structure, fundraising and strategic planning in his Agency. Besides social work, Mr Chan also acquired formal qualifications in town planning, social service management, public relations and communications, knowledge management, and attended the Executive Education Programme in strategic perspectives for nonprofit management of the Harvard Business School.
