Introduction

Integrative hypnotherapy has become a powerful intervention strategy since Milton Erickson, the founder of its theoretical and clinical framework, started to apply hypnosis in clinical practice in early 50’s. The Ericksonian approach is found to be effective, throughout clinical experiences with evidence based practice and analytical researches that are widely applicable for:

  • Emotional problems
  • Psychosomatic pain and chronic pain
  • Issues related with self-confidence, motivation and concentration
  • Weight control, smoking cessation, stress management
  • Sexual dysfunction and marital relationship

Objectives

  1. Increase the understanding of integrative hypnotherapy and its application in clinical practice.
  2. Create a platform for knowledge and experience sharing among the professional related in NGOs
  3. Provide chances for networking and resources retrieving

Guest speakers from related professionals such as psychiatrists, clinical practitioners and Scholars would share their thoughts, insights and experiences in their journey to Integrative Hypnotherapy. An open forum would also be arranged by inviting the participation of all to explore the challenges and needs on the application of applying integrative hypnotherapy to clinical practice in the 21st Century.

Dr Tang is the Director of Pulse Act Consulting Limited providing integrative therapy such as psychological counseling, hypnotherapy and sex therapy, as well as related training and development programs. Dr Tang focuses on handling cases concerning problems with emotions, trauma, couple relationship and intimacy. Dr Tang also serves as the Honorary Assistant Professor in the University of Hong Kong teaching and supervising students in both master and bachelor levels.

Utilization of Integrative Hypnotherapy from Medical Perspective

Dr Cheung is a specialist in Psychiatry currently in private practice. He has been appointed Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor in Department of Psychiatry at HKU, Adjunct Assistant Professor in Dept. of Psychiatry at CUHK, and visiting lecturer at Hong Kong University Family Institute. He is currently the Honorary Consultant in Psychiatry at Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital. Dr. Cheung is currently the Chairman of the Treatment and Rehabilitation Sub-committee of the Action Committee Against Narcotics. As recognition for his outstanding clinical works and community services, he was selected as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Hong Kong in 2001. He was awarded Medal of Honour of HKSAR in 2003.

Integrative Hypnotherapy for Managing Emotions


Ms Wan Yuen-ping, Pauline 尹婉萍小姐
Recognized Hypnotherapist Trainer, Registered Social Worker, Centre on Health and Wellness, HKSR

Ms Wan is an experienced social worker with over 15 years’ clinical experiences in counseling and has been trained in clinical hypnotherapy and its integration with different psychotherapies into clinical practice. She also provides professional training on integrative hypnotherapy, that she is an approved Hypnotherapist trainer in Centre on Health and Wellness of HKSR; and as a practicum supervisor concerning the integrative hypnotherapy and counseling in The University of Hong Kong Centre on Behavioral Health.

Dr Siu-man Ng, RCMP, RSW, PhD is Assistant Professor of Department of Social Work and Social Administration, and Associate Director of Centre on Behavioral Health, The University of Hong Kong. With a dual professional background in Chinese medicine and psychiatric social work, his research interest is mental health and Chinese culture, in particular, the applications of Chinese medicine and philosophies in mental health practice.
