Objectives

This is a 2-day intensive training course specifically designed for NGOs in the welfare sector. The characteristic of this program is that there are NGO-specific case illustrations. Objectives are as follows:

  • to enhance the techniques of NGO staff in handling staff issues of critical cases
  • to help HR and managers improve the relationship with staff under difficult situations

Day 1 – 12 September 2007

  • effective communication channels, tools and skills
  • tactics in managing conflicts
  • Working with unions to get win-win situation
  1. Supporting and empowering staff with difficulties
  • Understanding difficult behaviors

Day 2 – 19 September 2007

  1. Managing grievances and handling complaints
  • Definition, principles and procedures
  • Appeal and review mechanism
  1. Promoting multi-disciplinary teamwork
  • Appreciating differences
  • Contribution of different roles and allowable weaknesses
  • dealing with team conflicts

President, Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management (HKIHRM)

Mr. K.T. Lai is currently responsible for developing and implementing the remuneration and benefits policies for the Group’s senior executives, managing communication and implementation of the annual organizational performance review process as well as policy and guidelines on individual performance management. He has been working in the human resource field for over 35 years and is very experienced in key human resources processes and issues. ?Mr Lai became President of the HKIHRM since June 2005.? He served as the Vice-President of the Institute from 2000 to May 2005. He also co-chaired the MPF Taskforce from 2001 to March 2003. Currently, he also serves as Co-chairperson of the Employee Relations Committee and the Remuneration Committee of the Institute. Mr. Lai is member of the Human Resources Committee of Hong Kong Red Cross and the Executive Council of Hong Kong Council of Social Service.
