Introduction
People are important assets of an organisation. Efficiency, innovation, adaptability and hands-on skills in ICT are expected by employers in this 21st century. In fact, all of these are the characteristics of the Generation Y, which depicting the youngsters borne in or after the 80s. However, , they are also being described as too individualised, anti-system and upholding the freedom of choice. If he/she can stay in a company for more than two years, it will be a record for him/her.
With the rapid change of society, their competitive edges have turned to be the indispensable assets of an organisation. But, how could they be retained for 5 years or more? How to build good relationships with them? What needs to be done to facilitate their work? To them, what is the meaning of work? What kind of relationship do they expect from colleagues?
By understanding the characteristics and expectations of Generation Y, organisations can make use of their talents and collaborate with them to build a better future.
