Objectives

With the public awareness of the Caring Company Scheme, extensive attention towards corporate partnership is on the rise in NGO sector. The workshop series are designed for NGO practitioners in starting new corporate partnership as well as ensuring its success. Experts from caring companies and related fields are invited to share their practical knowledge and experiences with the following objectives:

  1. To provide the up-to-date information on the changing world of corporate philanthropy
  2. To provide step-by-step guidance in planning effective corporate partnership
  3. To help identify the opportunities and challenges involved in securing resources from the business sector
  4. To submit suitable proposals to prospects
  5. To impress prospects with outstanding presentations
  6. To cultivate the long-term partnership with the supporters
  7. To tailor-made projects for prospective supporters

  • Officers, event organizers, administrators and social workers in NGOs who need to plan, organize or co-coordinate events or activities with corporations and with limited hands-on experience

TREATS’ fundraising income has been doubled and more than 20 corporations have established close partnership with the organisation. In 2007, TREATS has carried out the brand renewal exercise after their 29 years establishment in Hong Kong.

New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (NLPRA)


Ms. Deborah Wan is a registered social worker, devoted in community psychiatric rehabilitation service for over 28 years. Ms. Wan has been serving as the Chief Executive Officer of New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (NLPRA) since 1981, and is a pioneer in introducing the social entrepreneurship concept to Hong Kong. Ms. Wan is committed to creating employment and training opportunities for people with psychiatric disability through the establishment of various social enterprises and thus she has won numerous awards. She developed a total of 19 social enterprises, including vegetable stall, fruit stall, convenience stores, restaurants, light refreshment kiosk, healthy living specialty/organic shops, souvenir shop, eco-tourism, cleansing service, property management service and coffee shop, creating a total of 217 positions for people with psychiatric disability, the disadvantaged and able-bodies as well as 482 training placements for service users. The annual turnover of more than HK$34 million was generated with a small profit.

Ms. Wan has been a board member of the World Federation for Mental Health since 2003 and is currently the Vice President of the Asia-Pacific Region and the Chair of the Commission on Work & Employment of Asia-Pacific Region, Rehabilitation International. Ms. Wan has extensive network in Mainland China and Asia Pacific region and is frequently invited as service consultant for related organizations.

Before joining the Council seven years ago, Mr. Choi had been working as a CEO of a non-government organization providing medical, health and social services. With his strong background in the third sector, Mr Choi is particularly keen to build meaningful bridges between the NGOs and corporations, such as Caring Company Scheme, Foundation Network, HKCSS Institute & WiseGiving.

Mr Choi earned his EMBA in City University of Hong Kong and MSW in Washington University in St Louis.

Ms. Lam has been actively promoting the spirit of corporate social responsibility and strategic partnership between NGOs and corporations through the Caring Company Scheme. Prior to joining the Council, Lois had been working in the business sector for over 10 years in the field of media and consumer products marketing. She has been teaching courses in management, communications and marketing at tertiary institute for years.

Project Manager - Resources Development and Fundraising

Ms. Kwan has over 10 years of NGO fundraising experience and is a member of The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Hong Kong Chapter. At present, she is the Project Manager (Resources Development and Fundraising) at The Hong Kong Council of Social Service. She plays an active role in WiseGiving to enhance charity accountability and transparency, and has enabled efficient donation channels for WiseGiving Charities through collaboration with banks, convenient stores and payment gateways. She also provides support to foundations in their grant-making strategies and facilitates effective partnership with NGOs.

Ms. Wendy Luk 陸偉儀女士
Project Manager, Partnership

Ms. Wendy Luk is currently the Project Manager (Partnership) of the HKCSS and has been actively facilitating corporations and NGOs in developing cross-sectoral partnerships since the launch of the Caring Company Scheme in 2002.  Throughout the past 6 years, she has nurtured excellent partnership relationship with Caring Companies, and has managed various strategic partnership projects among corporations and the HKCSS.  Prior to joining the HKCSS, Wendy has worked for business organizations in the aviation, hospitality and other service industries.
