Good Practice

What is Good Practice & Benchmarking ?
Reference 1
1. The best way to perform a process that result in quality services / products;
2. Documented strategies andtactics employed by "best-in-class" organizations;
3. In reality, no organization or company can be "best-in-class" in every areas; By systematically studying the best practices of others, individual organization can accelerate its own process and improvement;
4. It is fundamentally all about learning and sharing. Learning by borrowing from the best and adapting their approaches to fit one's own need is the essence of benchmarking.

C.E. Bogan & M.J. English (1994). Benchingmarking for the Best Practices: Winning Through Innovative Adaptation. New York : McGraw-Hill.

Reference 2
The concept of best practice is not reserved only for "ultimate truths" or "gold standards". For UNAIDS, best practice means accumulating and applying knowledge about what is working and not working in different situations and contexts. It is both the lessons learned and the continuing process of learning, feedback, reflection and analysis. The best practice process helps to identity and describe the lessons learned and the keys to success of any given project, programme or policy.

UNAIDS. (June 1999) Best Practice Collection. Issue 1. UNAIDS: Switzerland.

Why does the Council embark on Good Practice?
1.To promote a sharing culture in our social service sector and to encourage exchange of innovative ideas and practice wisdoms,
2. To facilitate improvement in service quality
