Senior Citizen's Day 2011

Theme of Senior Citizen's Day

The World Health Organization (WHO) agreed that “Lifelong Learning” was being included as one of the pillars in Active Ageing. To echo this appeal, HKCSS selected “Lifelong Learning” as the theme of Senior Citizen’s Day 2012 which well fits our mission to run the U3A Network of Hong Kong (University of Third Age).

Since its establishment in 2006, U3A upheld the motto of “Seeking Happiness through Lifelong Learning”, enabling the citizens, aged over 50, to fulfill their dreams and contribute to the community. U3A operates under an innovated “4S” learning model – self-initiating, self learning, self teaching and self-managing. Working on the “learning for pleasure” principle, U3A is not bound by accreditation, validation, assessment or any qualifications to be gained, promoting the development of interest-directed learning among older persons.
