Turning Crisis into Opportunity

Co-organized with the Hong Kong Public Relations Professionals’ Association Ltd., the PR Forum for NGOs 2007 was successfully held on 26 October 2007 on the topic Turning Crisis into Opportunity.  Around 160 participants from 70 Agency Members and corporations came to share their experiences with Mr. Poon Kai Tik, Chief Manager of Hospital Authority; Ms. Rachel Miu, Head of Corporate Communications from The Link Management Limited, and; Mr. Kwan Chuk Fai, General Manager (Corporate Communication) from NWS Holdings Limited.   Mr. Poon shared with us his experience on how HA convey their organization’s message to the public during crisis.  Ms Miu shared with us how to use media as the Link’s partner in communicating with the public.  Mr. Kwan shared with us his knowledge on how to prepare for and learn from crises when it arises.

We have also asked representatives from NGOs to respond to the sharing given by speakers of the private sector.  These speakers include: Mr. Lin Siu Sau from Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service Hong Kong; Mr. Ma Kam Wah from Senior Citizen Home Safety Association; and Ms. Susan So from Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children.  According to the feedback surveys, the Forum was found very inspiring for all those who attended.  It was a great sharing between the private sector and the welfare sector in terms of how they deal with crisis.
