From Sept. to Nov. 2000

The Consultant has held a series of focus group meetings to meet with the frontline workers, supervisors, users, office bearers in the Family Service and Child Care Division of the Council. The purpose is to gather their views on the subjects under review.The Division had helped in suggesting the number and theme of the focus groups and in nominating participants of the focus groups.The focus group meetings will continue till early Dec. 2000The list of focus groups that have been held and will be held is at App. 1The key issues raised by the Consultants are listed out in App. 2

 

Sept. 29, 2000

The Working Group for the Consultancy Study on Review of Family Services held its 1st meeting.Subjects discussed included the arrangement of focus groups; selection criteria of case studies and formulation of case study plan.

 

Oct. 20, 2000

The Steering Committee for the Consultancy Study on Review of Family Services held its 2nd meeting.The subjects discussed included the progress of the review; the methodology of case study; the International Review of Family Issues and Family Services and the parent educationThe meeting decided that there would be sessions open to the whole sector (both SWD and NGOs) to collect workers' views. The first session is tentatively fixed to take place on Dec. 19, 2000.It was decided that the Consultant would submit the interim report to the Steering Committee in mid Jan. 2001.

 

Nov. 1, 2000

The Working Group for the Consultancy Study on Review of Family Services held its 2nd meeting.Details of the case study plans were discussed, including the data requested, the method for collecting the data and the parties to be interviewed by the Consultants etc.

 

mid Nov. till Dec. 2000 Case study visits launched. The following agencies were involved:
  1. family casework service - 1 family service centre (FSC) from Caritas-HK; 1 FSC from HK Family Welfare Society and 1 counselling centre run by HK Christian Service
  2. FLE - 3 FLE units, one each from Caritas-HK, BGCA and St. James Settlement
  3. SSWP - HK Family Welfare Society
  4. Family Aide Service - HK Family Welfare Society
  5. FARC - St. James Settlement
