Women on the Agenda

A Special Session, "Beijing+5 Women 2000: Gender Equality, Development and Peace for the 21st Century"(Beijing+5"), was held by the United Nations from June 5-9, 2000 in New York.

The Commission on the Status of Women convened a preparatory meeting in March 2000 for the "Beijing+5". The Government representatives prepared an "Outcome Document" to be submitted to "Beijing+5" for endorsement, entitled as "Further Actions and Initiatives to Implement"," the Beijing Declaration and the Platform for Action".

Information collected from the preparatory meeting and the "Outcome Document" are also included in this booklet. The emergent needs of women and areas of concern with reference to the global trend are analysed, so as to further advocate the women status in Hong Kong.
